Toy Show Quiz
To mark the big event the whole school took part in a quiz answering questions about the Toy Show throughout the years.

Some of our 6th class pupils were fortunate to play in Croke Park recently. A very enjoyable day was had by all.
Thank you to Catherine, Gerry, Kitty and the Lavey Sowers & Growers for affording our younger pupils the opportunity to plant their our pumpkin seeds in June. We patiently waited for them to grow in the Polytunnel. 🎃Look at the finished results !

🎃 June 2023
On Wednesday 14th June, our Junior classes were invited to plant some pumpkin seeds in the Polytunnel with the help of Gerry Tierney & Catherine King. We look forward to seeing our pumpkins bloom next October.

On Thursday 15th June, we held our end of year Graduation Mass, thanks to Fr.Andrew for celebrating it with us, we congratulate 6th class and wish them well as they embark on the next chapter of their lives…

We welcomed Aidan Dockery National Heritage Specialist to our school. “Aidan has devoted a huge part of the last 50 years putting together one of the country's best collections of Irish stamps, coins, postcards, artefacts and commemorative booklets. Hugely passionate about all things Irish, he has worked very hard at accumulating and organising his collection and is widely regarded as being a great authority on several aspects of Irish history, geography, literature, culture, music, sport, wildlife, etc.
Congratulations to Joey Hughes 6th class pupil.
Joey was one of the 5 winners of the inaugural Children”s Art Competition to mark Animal Welfare Awareness Day with the Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue and Minister for Land Use & Biodiversity Pippa Hackett.

Preparations will begin for First Holy Communion which will take place on May 7th at 11am in Lower Lavey and Confirmation takes place on Sunday May 8th in Upper Lavey.

Fundraiser for Ukraine 11th March
Our pupils and staff raised 1034 euro in school today for the people of Ukraine. Our Parents' Association has very kindly agreed to match the amount of money raised on the day.

The Daily Mile
The Daily Mile is simple and free and gets children out of the classroom for fifteen minutes every day to walk, run or jog, at their own pace, with their classmates, making them fitter, healthier, and better able to concentrate in the classroom.

Christmas Cards for Schools
All classes from Junior Infants to 6th class took part in the Christmas Cards for Schools project. Each child created their own card and the cards were truly artistic!
Visit from Santa Claus in December 2021 caused great excitement.

Halloween Fancy Dress Day
On Friday 22nd October, our annual Halloween Dress Up Day took place. The children's costumes were amazing! This year all the money raised went to Cavan Palliative Care Fund, in memory of our dear parent Matthew Reilly.

Well done to the Green Schools Committee and everyone involved.
The next flag we will be working on is : LITTER AND WASTE & GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP.
Pupils from 1st -4th class were also chosen to participate in a PICKER PALS PROGRAMME in association with Voice Ireland (www.voiceireland.org)
"Picker Pals engages children through a colourful character-led world of activity books, environmental readers, songs and storytelling.... These contain child-friendly litter-picking equipment and enable children and their families to make a real impact in their local areas".
We will look forward to using these in the coming months.
Our school was one of the chosen winners in the Anti-Litter & Slogan campaign in association with Cavan County Council.

Return to School
Tuesday 31st August 2021 saw our pupils return to school. It is great to see everyone back and we look forward to a good year ahead. The Covid-19 safety measures we had in place last year are still in place for the coming months.
